Nelly Furtado is going to perform on the Brazilian version of ‘Big Brother’, on TV Globo. The singer will come to Brazil in 2 weeks for 3 shows and to promote her latest album ‘Mi Plan’.

According to Daniel Castro, Furtado will perform on the reality show the next 24th.

Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics

Nelly Furtado and Bryan Adams had a duet during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics 2010 on February 13th. It’s magnificent how the two made all the ground excited of the grand opening for this year’s Winter Olympics at Vancouver. Both performers sang a song titled “Bang the Drum”

Nelly Furtado will strut her stuff also this Sunday February 14th. The “Maneater” hitmaker’s performance will take place prior to the medal awards ceremony and will air on MuchMusic at 11 p.m. ET.

Billboard Latin awards 2010, 4 nominations!

Urban-leaning acts led the finalists’ charge for the 2010 Billboard Latin Music Awards, with Tito “El Bambino” competing for 18 awards for his album “El Patrón” (Siente/Universal) and the single “El Amor.” Following in sheer number of finalist slots are reggaetón duo Wisin & Yandel, up for 14 awards and urban/bachata stars Aventura, up for 12 awards. Regional Mexican singer/songwriter Espinoza Paz is a finalist in eight awards while Luis Fonis, Banda el Recodo and La Arrolladora Banda El Limón are up for six award each.

The Billboard Latin Music Awards, presented by State Farm, will be broadcast live April 29 from the Puerto Rico Coliseum on the Telemundo network, marking the first time the awards show‹the top-rated special on the Telemundo network–travels to Puerto Rico. The awards are the culmination of the Billboard Latin Music Conference, taking place April 26-29 at the Condado Plaza Hotel in San Juan ( www.billboardlatinconference.com). This year’s top finalists reflect a radio landscape where formats and genres increasingly overlap and where pop and tropical stations are increasingly playing urban beats. In effect, urban music, a novelty in the Latin arena just five years ago, is increasingly blending with pop and tropical music for a hybrid that crosses musical boundaries.

Other multiple finalists included Shakira, up for five awards, and Paulina Rubio and Nelly Furtado, up for four awards each.

Finalists to the Billboard Latin Music Awards were announced during Telemundo’s morning show, “Levántate,” with different artists reading finalists live from four different cities.

A Hockey musical gets Nelly Furtado

Score: A Hockey Musical just got nelly.

Nelly Furtado, that is.

The Victoria-born singer will appear in a supporting role in Michael McGowan’s musical about Canada’s national sport. Furtado will join other previously announced music stars such as Olivia Newton-John, Hawksley Workman, Marc Jordan, and Dave Bidini.

She’ll be playing an ardent hockey fan, whose love for the sport will contrast with the dismay of the highbrow parents (Newton-John and Jordan) of a boy who rockets to stardom after being signed to a junior hockey team.

In a press release, McGowan stated that he wrote the role specifically for Furtado: “Nelly is an incredible entertainer and, after speaking with her, I realized that she fully relished embracing her inner hockey fanatic.”

There’s no word yet on whether or not she’ll be writing and performing her songs, but previously, her song “Forca” (sung in both English and Portuguese) became the official anthem of the 2004 European Football Championship.

Nelly Furtado will donate her time alongside Celine Dion and Justin Bieber during ‘Canada For Haiti,’ a special telethon geared toward raising funds for the earthquake stricken nation of Haiti.

Signing on for ‘Canada For Haiti,’ a one hour, commericial free special produced collaboratively between CBC Television, CTV and Global Television, Nelly Furtado will be joined by David Foster, Sara McLachlan, K’naan, Eugene Levy and more at CBC headquarters in Toronto Friday.

Hosted by Cheryl Hickey, Ben Mulroney and George Stroumboulopoulos, funds raised from ‘Canada For Haiti’ will go towards a coalition of Canadian NGOs, including Canadian Red Cross Society, Care Canada, Free the Children, Oxfam Canada, Oxfam Quebec, Plan Canada, Save the Children Canada, UNICEF Canada and World Vision Canada.

Also featuring Barenaked Ladies, Simple Plan, Chantal Kreviazuk, Raine Maida and Measha Brueggergosman, Hollywood heavy hitters James Cameron, Michael J. Great news!
Nelly just wrote on her official twitter page(www.twitter.com/nellyfurtado) that she recorded a new song for her new upcoming english album. The album will be released on May 25th,2010. She also wrote that we will have to stay tuned for the tour dates of the South American tour in spring 2010.

Vancouver is almost ready for the Olympic Winter games. The city unveils the performers for nightly Vancouver Victory Ceremonies.The 12 headliners, which include Nelly Furtado, Barenaked Ladies, Loverboy, and Hedley, are part of the Vancouver 2010 concert series, presented by Bell, and will perform for one night during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
Nelly will perform on Sunday February 14 on the British Columbia night. The live medal presentations in short track speed skating (men’s 1,500 m), ladies’ freestyle skiing moguls and speed skating (men’s 5,000 m and ladies’ 3,000 m) will be on the same day too.

It has been a while since Nelly’s 4th album ”Mi Plan” came out. This full Spanish album was released on September 15. ”Manos al Aire” is the lead single from the album. It was released to worldwide radio on June 30, 2009, followed with digital and mobile retail availability the next day. ”Más” is the second single released from the album. It will be physically released on December 18, 2009 in Germany. In the months after the release date of ”Mi Plan” Nelly went on tour to promote her new album. She has been to a lot of countries, like Germany, England, Italy and the Netherlands.

So far, the album has sold 202500 copies world wide.

According to our souces, Nelly is set to release ‘Stars’ as a single in the near future. The track was exclusively performed to live audiences that attended some of the concerts Nelly gave during her ‘Get Loose Tour’ in 2007 and was very well received by fans all over the world.

No date has been announced yet, but we will keep you posted.
